Cadegliano (Lombardia)
| A base of
Gioventù in Missione was officially established in Italy in
the summer of 1988 and can host around 40 people. It is
situated 3 km from the Swiss-Italian border of Ponte Tresa, 20 km from the city of Varese, and 75 km from
Milano. From here many projects and initiatives have
begun, which have sought to be an encouragement,
blessing and challenge to the Church in Italy as a whole.
An important part of the vision is to be a catalyst for
unity among the Christians in this nation as well as
helping families and individuals live that life in
abundance that God has called us to. |

Ministry-wise Cadegliano hosts a
Discipleship Training School every year and offers seminars on
how to interpret the Bible, relationships in the family and so
on. In
addition, evangelistic groups are hosted, hospitality is given
to people in need, and counselling is offered when sought.
Over the years, good relationships
have been cultivated with the local authorities. Some of the
staff therefore help out in the local library, sit on boards
which seek to promote social and cultural activities, and
generally help out in the local public sector when needed. The
local branch of the immigration authorities from time to time
ask us to help with lodging for refugees. Others: Christians and
non-Christians, turn up at the centre needing various degrees of
help, sometimes by their own initiative, other times being
passed on by churches, the police or other nearby local councils.
Apart from acting as a support for
our other centres in Sicily, Sardinia and Umbria, the Cadegliano centre
has sent out a team which is now working full time in Albania.
This work involves evangelism, a family-planning project (with
the aim of limiting the terrible number of abortions taking
place there), medical aid, the care for disabled children, as
well as the building of houses for desperately poor people and
benches and seats for schools.
The base in Cadegliano also sponsors some missionary and
evangelistic work in Togo (in Agou-Nyogbo and Kara).
